Dear Jamie and Anita:

It is hard to believe that a year has gone by since my brother and I
had the task of closing our parents home, going through "the stuff" and deciding what to
keep knowing all along that it was our memories we were trying to perserve.

I was mentally and physically exhausted when you and I spent the morning together.
Refocusing my energy by planning a new garden, talking about my mom and dad,
my home and how to create a memorial that would be a living constant reminder
about the really important "stuff" was a wonderful healing process.

We are all surviving, the plants through this drought and me through my first year
without having a living parent.  But I wanted to share a particular story with you.

Friends were over for dinner.  Barb and I walked out back and into the garden.
We sat in the garden on the bench made of the barn wood from home.
We talked about the sound of a mountain brook,
walking paths, rocks for climbing and sitting on, birds to watch and woodland plants.
I explained the symbolism of the star hanging on the wall and the meaning
of the verse painted int he center of the star.
We sang and cried and she recalled that was the anniversary of her fathers death.

Our garden continues to reach out and heal,

Gods Peace,
Jane
